A solitary black cat stands quietly in the meadow, staring at me as I walk my deck. Finally, it races away and squeezes through a hole in the fence.  Come back I whisper to the cat. No such luck.

I am trying for 2000 steps a day now and walking on the deck is 400 steps. I am joining my friends who count their steps daily. Maybe I will walk more. Another Physical Therapy appointment this morning.

Each morning, I tear off the blue plastic bag covering the newspaper, The New York Times.  I wish it was a good local paper. I read this paper after breakfast.  My fingers collect ink residue from the paper. This is a last hold out to an earlier time of my life.

The thoughtful librarian visits in the late afternoon.  The dog lover brings me another bunch of fabulous cookies from Whole foods, called WALNUT. A strange name for such wonderful cookies. I eat one a day after dinner. My daughter’s friend gives me home made Mexican soup for dinner. I have no complaints what so ever.
