Most days, the four of us siblings send out an email to each other. For years we have kept in touch with daily updates of happenings in our lives. Sort of like letters when writing letters was a thing. We don’t expect a reply. I feel so grounded knowing where these lovely people actually are. Last week my sister was in Ireland and my brother was in India on vacations.

I do have a cell phone. I can’t imagine not having one. It usually lives by my recliner, sometimes turned off.  The other day I am driving in my car and realize the cell phone is not with me.  I feel so vulnerable being out of communication with others. My fear is that my 16 year old car will break down and I will be helpless. Not a realistic fear.

Real rain last night. The neighborhood is damp this morning. Damp and cold. The weather report was accurate. In the late afternoon the quilter brings me chocolate chip cookies from Whole Foods. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.

I am reading a self published memoir by Dr. Tariq Murad, THE MAKING OF A PATHOLOGIST. I wanted to know more about pathology’s role in medicine. A naïve delightful memoir. I love it.
