     Several people visit in the afternoon. I show off my new cuddly chicken. It is hard to believe I bought a toy chicken. I am getting younger in my old age. Some of my favorite books now are youth novels. I do wonder what’s next during this new happy childhood time.

     49 degrees in my bedroom when I finally get up.  With the heater on it is the 50’s and slowly rising. My old house is drafty.  I wear my warmest clothes in the morning.

     The chaplain, during one of my times in the hospital, asks what is my relationship to pain. Well of course I do not vote for pain. But that is not the answer. This question is my koan to live with.  Maybe some questions do not have an answer.

     Last night I watch another episode of MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN, a good series. And then I start watching a documentary about Leonard Cohen, HALLELUJAH.   There is so much sadness in his wonderful songs.
