I read the current new Yorker while waiting in my car in Carmel.  Two articles thrill me and when I return home, before I ate my lunch, I order them.  The Canadian writer Miriam Toews novels are at the library so I put a hold on her earliest.  And then Lauren Berlant book THE HUNDREDS, I order on Amazon.

I park my car in front of Copy King to pick up my order.  I am appalled by my careless parking again.  I parked at an angle in a parallel spot and was over the parking lines.

I point out to my friends the geraniums blooming on my deck.  Look I say aren’t they wonderful, red, pink, orange, white.  Umm I guess so, they respond. I try to hide my disappointment. We return to our lunch conversations.
