Some days just continue without any changes. Clouds in morning, sun and wind in the afternoon, breakfast, lunch and dinner at the right time. National news on TV.  Government is shut down, wars are happening, health care system is broken. So boring.

In the afternoon a truck pulling a van drives up the neighbor’s driveway.  Gets stuck, backs down and stops on the street. Finally, I realize it is a mobile pet grooming van.  Two young boys play in the dirt for several hours near the van. I miss seeing and hearing young kids.

The Meals on Wheels volunteers arrive in the morning four times a week with their deliveries. They bring food and check on me.  Friendly, and competent. I am still alive. Maybe not so boring after all.

Read most of William Kent Krueger’s latest novel APOSTLE’S COVE, a mystery series based in Minnesota. I like all his books. Although I have never traveled in Minnesota, the place has become familiar to me.
