Escape from the house mid morning. Park in front of TRU-CUTS on Lighthouse Ave in Monterey. Always a bit traitorous with cars zooming past. Up two steep concrete steps into the waiting room. After a half hour wait my turn arrives. My annual haircut. A short bob. In the end I look like 80 year old, E. Jean Carroll during her court trial against Trump. Yes to 80 year olds who can defeat Trump in a court of law. Two times. I mean if I dyed my hair blond I would look like her.
Two of my roommate’s high school friends spend the evening with us watching ROMY AND MICHELE’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION. Intelligent, funny, kind women. Their school reunion is this weekend. We laugh and talk. I remember them as lively teenagers and now they are in their 60’s. I sleep so well last night after the party.
Start reading a new book, BACKSTAGE, Stories of a Writing Life, by Donna Leon. She has written fabulous books about Guido Brunetti, a detective in Venice.
I feel more confident driving my car now. I can do it. As usual the outside of my car has clusters of spider webs from invisible spiders.
