The tall man drives me to the clinic. I am not sure how long it will take.  Last time it was one hour for the ten minute infusion but today it is back to two and a half hours. The waiting room is filled with patients and caregivers. Everything takes a long time. A bunch of small birds are darting outside the second story windows.

A vice calls out, Kathy is that you. Another old friend unseen for years. She is with her sick husband. We talk about the time we worked together. She makes the day worthwhile for me. We talk until my name is called. Everything is slow. A new nurse is learning how to do the catheter insertion on me.

I don’t have any real complaints, just the same old ones of long waits, uncomfortable equipment.  The nurses are kind and considerate and the tall man picks me ups when I text him, I am done.

I ask the nurse if I could be scheduled for Wednesdays rather than Mondays which are so crowded.  Nope, it doesn’t work like that, you are a Monday patient. OK I say as I leave trying to be grateful for the life saving treatments. Actually, I am grateful.
