Some mornings I wake up and wonder if I have anything to write about. So today I made a boring list of things I really need to do, really. Fold laundry that has been sitting in the drier for days, cold winkled sheets. How easy it is to forget the laundry.
My primary doctor’s large waiting room is flooded with light from windows on three sides. Chairs are lined up against the three white walls. Shiny Wooden floor. Two friendly women sit behind the counter. At first, I am the only patient. A delivery man arrives with a breakfast bag for the women. They are patient with the people on the phone. Of course, I only hear one side of the conversations. Another patient arrives and we start talking. Two life like tall plants stand in the corners.
We watch two more episodes of THE PITT, the Emergency Trauma show. I like how calm the doctors are with the patients.
In the evening, I start reading MEMORIAL DAYS by Geraldine Brooks, a memoir of living through the unexpected death of her husband, Tony Horwitz. A really interesting story.
