For months we plan to go to Denny’s for a hot fudge sundae to celebrate.  We can’t remember what to celebrate, but the hot fudge reward is alive in my mind. Today is the day.  We arrive at the mostly empty restaurant after my nap. Sorry, the waitress tells us, we haven’t had hot fudge sundaes for years.  It takes time to read the menus to find a substitute. We try out another fancy desert, ice cream, chocolate and crumbled Oreo cookies.  Isn’t as good as the hot fudge sundae of the past.

I do have favorite foods living in my mind, and sometimes get to actually eat.  The carrot cake at Rosine’s, Ad astra seeded sour dough bread, “walnut” cookies from Whole foods, salads from Elroys. I don’t actually have to eat them to get the endorphin hit. These foods bring me pleasure.

In the Harnell waiting room. An old couple wonders around the room, obviously lost. Across the room behind a desk, a young woman shouts, to the left, turn to the left. Hard to tell if they can understand what she is shouting.  No security guard this morning to help out. The scattered visitors with their canes and walkers, just watch the drama.

After intense news on TV, I watch another episode NORTH OF NORTH on Netflix, a light hearted series.
