Watching the news last night becomes unbearable. Usually, I am curious. But last night I see how fragile we all are, the earth, and the living, and us. I even find my usual TV series unbearable.

Yesterday I wake up energetic, ready to complete some of my home tasks. An Instacart order, folding a pile of laundry living in a chair all week, taking out garbage, walking on the deck, talking to friends.

In the afternoon I am sitting in the car waiting for my daughter to finish her medical appointment. A police car stops, and the officer asks me if I have seen a screaming man running up the street. Nope. A man runs up to the police car, yes I saw him. The car races off to find the screaming man. I lock my car doors. I never see the screaming man but I think about him.

I start reading BURN by Peter Heller, a scary dystopian novel. Umm maybe this is the trigger of my sudden dismay.
