Many times a day I open up my old laptop computer to check on things. Things like email, facebook, the well, questions for google. This urge arises with thoughts of missing something important, something vital. It is hard to not react. I use my iPhone for telephone calls and texting. Sometimes for weather checking. Now I have started checking on my step counting. Sometimes I am just scrolling to find something new.
I continue to do my daily exercise homework. It is not grueling. I am committed to becoming stronger.
I pick up my daughter in the late morning and we drive to the city hall women’s protest. The sidewalks are filled with women carrying clever homemade signs expressing their anger with the current president. And they are joyful, full of vim and vigor. I drive by three times honking my horn while they shout and shake their signs.
I continue to read PLAYGROUND by Richard Powers. Not a comfort reading book. I have to read every word, and still have difficulty following the story. I do like it.
