     My friend brings Chinese take out for dinner.  I set up the TV.  It’s BARBIE time. Such a good film, such good food. I told her next time we can watch OPPENHEIMER. She shook her head no, too grim.

     I did find in the pile of library books a gem, VISITATION by German writer Jenny Erpenbeck, one of my favorite writers. I can’t put it down once I start reading.

     Another friend emails me to cancel lunch plans for this week.  She has COVID. So many of my friends have COVID this summer.  Not me yet.

     I haven’t driven my car for several weeks.  It is on the top of my to do list now. My job is to keep my car alive just as I used to worry about keeping my little kids alive.
