I talk on the phone with friends most days. Long intimate conversations. We joke, tell stories and confess fears. For decades I shied away from phone friendships but now I am learning they are a life line for me. I am still not comfortable with zoom calls.
Another slow day, doing the bare minimum to maintain my life. I know it is temporary. At least I hope it is. My personal librarian brings over more books. They stack up on the side table. She stays and talks for awhile.
The deck warms up in the sun. I walk out to the railing to check on the town. I see sky, buildings, cars, mountains. I don’t see people.
I watch the last season episode of THE ROYAL FLYING DOCTORS SERVICE, a PBS masterpiece theater series from Australia. I love these people. All good hearted, imperfect characters.
