After looking at several library books this one has caught me.  DISAPPEARING EARTH, a novel by Julia Phillips. A novel based in Russia today. I spent many hours reading yesterday.

Sitting outside in the shade of the bottle bush tree, talking to a friend, we stop.  What is that sound? During a pause between car and airplane sounds we hear the buzz.  Bees, hundreds of bees, hustling around the red flowers of the tree.

Took the rest of the trash out to the cans before the garbage truck lumbered down my street.

All the large oak trees look dead.  The oak moths have done their job.  The trees will revive again.
