Driving Prescott Street, car filled with Trader Joes brown
bags, I slow down for the two deer slowly crossing the street. I am finally
willing to put food back in my refrigerator and freezer after losing everything
in the last power outage.
The old oak tree in the side yard has not died even though
it looks dead. Leaves are sprouting out
on the grey trunk. The huge quince
tree’s leaves are now sheltering me from the neighbors lives.
I picked up from the stack of library books, LIVES WE NEVER
LIVED, a novel by Anuradha Roy. A friend
dropped by and we were caught by the TV series THE AMAZING MRS MAIZEL. We
watched for hours, eating popcorn and laughing.
We forgot the rain and cold. Today I will continue reading the novel.
