I sit in the cancer waiting room. Three people I know arrive and soon we are in an animated conversation remembering our friendships. I am so happy to see them again. I should come here more often to find my old friends and neighbors. This is where the action is.

I now have three doctors, and each one is taking care of a separate part of me, the kidney, the bladder and the lungs. I finally understand how medicine works. I was stuck in thinking of my whole body, but really medicine is mostly about the separate parts of the body.

I started reading an unknown book brought to me by an old friend.  LEIF ENGER, a novel by Virgil Wander. I am giving it a try.

Looking out the treatment room window, waiting for the doctor, I see a hawk hunting on the dry hillside. Rising up in the air, then hovering and finally diving straight down. I lose sight of him and then he is back, drifting in the air.
