Maybe we are headed for a heat wave, maybe a fog wave. We are on the edge of whatever is happening. My house is quiet this morning. A dog is barking in the distance. The early morning street cleaning machine with flashing lights sweeps through in the dark. No human sounds so far.
My east coast daughter arrives late tonight. She reminds me she needs half and half milk for her coffee tomorrow morning. I am not sure it is going to happen.
The tall man is taking me to my urology appointment at noon. I have missed the last three but today I can do it. We will bring the light weight walker I temporarily am using. I hope it is temporary. After the so called easy, no problem surgery in July I have suffered a UTI, sepsis and three days in the hospital. My fragile knee is traumatized. And I need naps during the daytime.
I finish reading Ezekiel Emanuel’s memoir of his family, BROTHERS EMANUEL. The story of his parents and the realities of the Vietnam war and racism stick with me. Yes, the difficulties of the 60’s and 70’s have a huge effect on me too.
