Same old waiting room for physical therapy. Sounds of hammering on the roof. Few people coming in and out. One elderly man comes into the room and asks me if I am Rosalie.  Nope not me.  He goes to several other women. He doesn’t find her. We watch him as he walks through the large room. Later I wonder if he is an uber driver looking for his customer.

This is a reevaluation session with the Physical therapist. Are my physical skills improved?  I do timed walking, sit and stand, and balance movements. A little bit of improvement, just enough to qualify for eight more sessions. I report my kidney function has dramatically recovered, but that is not part of the test. We are working on balance and stairs. I am scheduled for eight sessions in June, perfect before my July surgery.

What I like most about the sessions is the kindness and patience of the PT. He laughs at my silly jokes and encourages me to keep trying. I want to hug him and tell him thank you.

I finish reading HUMAN SCALE and am truly humbled by the scope of this book in trying to show the confusion and violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Such a familiar historical story.
