When I return to college at age 40 to obtain my Masters degree in social work, I thought I was very old. Again, at age 55 I remember feeling very old.  But now at 84 I don’t feel so old. I know I am old but still what I feel isn’t connected to years lived.

In the spirit of the abundance of caution I am scheduled for the next biopsy mid July. This will happen in the hospital operating room. Words and descriptions matter. And the words keep changing, a procedure, a biopsy, a surgery, cutting and scraping in my bladder. And yes I agreed to this. So, during the next six weeks I am going to focus on becoming stronger and having fun.

The evening bugle call is particularly loud last night. The sound comes through the foggy sky into my open bedroom window. It is 10 pm, time to close my book and get into my bed.

Thanks to my personal librarian, I can start reading  Lawrence Wright’s THE HUMAN SCALE, a novel set in the troubled middle east. I am liking it. I watch another episode of NORTHERN EXPOSURE, my feel good tv series.
