Sunday morning sitting on the deck, warming up my body in the sun. In the distance long wires stretch between the tall poles. First there is one tiny bird sitting alone. Various chirps come from the bushes. The bird leaves. Soon three different birds settle on the wires. I am warm and return to the house.
Last night I hear an owl hooting in the dark. This morning, I hear mocking birds. And now the sea lions are barking in the distance.
I watch another episode of THE LAST DETECTIVE. This show is growing on me. And then I start to read a thriller, SOMETIMES I LIE, by Alice Feeney. Now I am looking for an obscure detective series new to me. I have a difficult month ahead.
In the late afternoon a spell of sadness descends on me. I struggle with the hopelessness of it all. Finally, I call a friend and we talk about the difficulties and rewards of life. At the end of the animated conversation, I am better. Life is good.
