I don’t really believe the weather warnings when the sun is shining. But Sunday the wind is fierce, power is out around the town, rain comes in quick bursts. I still have my power and heat. Sirens in the distance, and gusts of winds wrestle with the tall pine trees. I am safe. The back fence blows down and a kind neighbor pulls it out of the street.
I am one of the few houses with electricity. Last year, much to my dismay, a series of trees are cut down by the power lines near the high school. This unappreciated action protects me from the worse storm ever.
I am at home and only know what is happening because of facebook and next door. I see pictures of houses and cars smashed by falling trees, hot wires on the ground, puddles and lakes, and darkness.
I hear the wild ocean. Roaring sounds come and go as the winds blow through the town. Yes, there is rain but it is the wind that is so frightening. I sit in my blue recliner eating my hot breakfast as I write this morning. How is everyone today?
