In May I spent 4 days in the ICU at Stanford for a saddle pulmonary embolism.  Now reading a newly released book EVERY DEEP DRAWN BREATH byWes Ely, MD, a critical care doctor on healing, recovery and transforming medicine in the ICU, I realize how dangerous that hospitalization was. I worried about finding food and eating.  The staff worried about my heart stopping.

Lots of machine noises from the street this early morning.  Buzzing, bumping, metal on metal, blowing.

We continued to intently watch Spike Lee’s documentary of COVID AND NEW YORK CITY. So much to know and learn.

The physical therapist arrived yesterday and got me up and moving.  I resisted.  I am tied, I am sore.  I got up and started the exercise routine she has set up for me.  Then I took a nap.
