This morning while drinking coffee, I finish reading Claudia Rankine’s NYT magazine article, BRIEF ENCOUNTERS WITH WHITE MEN. I have read her books.  She teaches a Yale college class about what it means to be white in America.  I want to take her class.

I gather up the week’s supply of newspapers and take them out to the recycle bin.  Today is garbage pick up day. One week’s supply fills a paper bag.  I fear being overrun by piles of newspapers.   I am over supplied with books but the daily newspaper papers are still under control.

The colors of the red and pick geraniums on my deck are intense in the thick morning fog.
