Sitting in my car at the beach around noon.  Saw a slender young woman walking on the beach trail.  Long light brown hair, athletic walk.  My granddaughter, shouldn’t she be in school.  Put on my glasses, no, someone else.

Drove on Del Monte avenue by the Navy School and saw the Salvation army lunch truck handing out food to the dozens of warmly bundled people waiting in line.  Rain gently falling. Such good people.

The library had 10 reserved books ready to be picked up.  Too heavy for me so I returned 6 of the books immediately.

In the last two weeks I have killed 5 rodents who I think were rats, in my kitchen.  I shudder to realize they have been living with me.  I have asked my home repair person to check the perimeter of the house for any access points.

Killing rats has become part of reading THE STAND by Stephen King. By the time I have finished reading the book maybe there will be no more killing in my kitchen. My friends no longer want to hear rat stories.
