My morning paper comes doubled wrapped in blue plastic bags. Definitely will not get wet if we get rain puddles. I struggle with the tightly knotted bags every morning. The old bags pile up in my waste basket.

No costumes, no kids trick or treating in my neighborhood.  Haven’t been for years. I am not sure I miss it. But I do miss something. We watch the first episode of season two of WEDNESDAY to honor Halloween. My roommate prepares a taquitos diner for us.

The heater repair guy comes at noon to assess the heat problem. He and his helper spend time in the basement and then come up with their verdict.  This 35 year old heater is no longer reliable, need a new one. He is friendly and answers my many questions.  Several relatives are with me to make sure I don’t mess up. All I have to do is write a big check to get heat back into my home. sigh. The new heater is to be installed Saturday.

Hard to settle down to reading during the heater excitement. Will I outlive my savings? The government shutdown and the inflation are worrisome. Today, more worrisome than my cancer treatments. Is this moment OK? Yep.
