Taking a shower is always a struggle. I have to prepare. Really, I shouldn’t even be talking about showers. Too intimate a topic. There are some limits to my writing topics. I now understand the stories of grandparents not wanting to bathe.
Several years ago, I bought a book about yoga chair exercises. I find the book in the pile near the dinning room table. Yesterday I try out the twenty minute beginner’s exercises. They are a challenge but doable. So maybe I will continue. I want to be stronger.
My roommate is busy with the democrats and the November election. I listen to her stories and wish I could do more. But I mostly settle into the comfortable blue recliner and read whatever book is closest In the evening I watch the news and then, another episode of MAIGRET, a masterpiece theater series based in Paris.
I walk out on the deck. Flowers blooming in their pots. Few red leaves left on the old apricot tree. The quince fruit continue to hang on the tree as the leaves fall. Humming birds buzz around. Airplanes fly low over the house. I am waiting for something, not sure what at this time.
