 Thursday, October 23, 2025

Now I remember, my older sister’s birthday is in the end of October and my childhood best friend Camille’s birthday is early October. Bright memories of my childhood in the 1940’s and 50’s arise.  I haven’t seen my childhood friend in 60 years. I hear from my sister daily. Being old is so odd.

My roommate is busy with activities.  We squeeze in time to watch the 5th episode of SLOW HORSES before she goes on a zoom meeting in the evening. I am not so busy. I write out checks for my monthly bills and will take the envelops to the post office today.

Rotten fruit hang on the large quince tree waiting to fall. I don’t eat quince and neither do the squirrels.  I see a squirrel wrestle with an acorn on the oak tree in the front yard. I also don’t eat acorns or squirrels.  Lots of squirrel activity this week.

I am reading Ruth Rendell’s 1977 mystery novel, A JUDGEMENT IN STONE. I read a glowing review of the book by Donna Leon. Luckily the library has a copy of the book. I am liking it.
