I am watching Rachel Maddow show last night when the first news arrives of the airplane and helicopter crash in Washington DC. This morning news reports everyone in the crash died. Tears come up and I am crying. Maybe I am just ready to cry after all the confusing and nutty news this week.
In the evening, I keep watching the crash news for two hours as the first responders struggle in the dark night and the icy cold river. There is actually very little news, at first, but the video of the actual crash and explosion plays over and over. Then I turn off the TV and I am back in my own safe home getting ready for bed.
In the afternoon, Juan, the skilled and kind handyman arrives to fix my toilet. For several years he has helped keep my house safe and functioning.
I start reading an Islandic detective story THE DARKNESS KNOWS by Arnaldur Indridason. He is one of the better international mystery story tellers.
