I read an essay by Roger Rosenblatt in the Sunday NYT paper about the difficulty of getting in and out of cars. And stairs are impossible. He describes being 83 in ways that are excruciating familiar to my experiences. I have read his earlier memoirs and want a new one.

Turn the heater on to take the chill off the foggy morning.  The weather report says it will be a warm day and I wonder where that warm day is. Monterey is seldom warm.

This week I did my leg and knee exercises daily and this morning my knee is fine. Why don’t I always do this.

Several of us spend hours talking and laughing about the use of paper coffee filters in a variety of clever and stupid ways. What is wrong with us. I continue to feel stronger each day.  October is my recovery month.
