         Looking at a weather map I see that I live in the cool edge of the American continent. A thin green line at the edge of the hot red colored map. We have had fog for months now. I wear flannel clothes.  Occasionally when we have a few warm hours, I sit outside in the sun to warm my clothes.

         The cleaners come on Tuesday morning and change the sheets and vacuum and wash the floors, and clean the bathrooms and kitchen. Smile.

         A friend drops by in the morning. I am still in my flannel nightgown and sweats. She asks if I have a new haircut. I realize I haven’t combed my hair yet for the day.

         I take five pills in the morning right after breakfast. I take the pills before I brush my teeth. I ignore the directions to take them at different times. My brother, who is a wonderful doctor, told me it is more important to take the pills daily then to risk missing a pill because of complicated directions.  I do have a rebellious steak in me.
