The hardest part of watering the front yard is wrestling with the stiff green hose. Time to get another hose? It doesn’t want to untwist as I move around the garden. The hose nozzle doesn’t help. When done, I sit in a chair recovering, and observe the tall looming pine trees. The city forester says the trees will not crash on my house. The sunny blue sky is rimmed with thick waiting fog.

I see a spot of orange in the back yard.  Could it be poppies? The massive new growth of wild black berries are impossible to control.

A long quiet Saturday. Slowly work gets done and naps happen. Sun is out but not too warm. In the late afternoon I walk on my street, listening to the distant sounds of racing cars and sirens.

A stack of unopened packages is accumulating on the table. Again.
