The sounds of firework explosions and sirens come through my windows in early evening.  I assume that it is OK because I am basically a glass half full kind of person.

The east coast daughter, the former teenager, and I watch the MSNBC documentary on Oppenheimer. World War two, the 1930’s depression, communism and then the big bomb. So many men in charge, smoking, drinking martinis, and creating horrific bombs. So many images look familiar to me.

In the morning before my charming daughter leaves, we watch episode 5 of the thriller HIJACK. Well done and nerve racking. The last two episodes to be watched later in the week.

I remember being in my mid twenties with three very young children and no husband.  Now I see how my parents and family all helped me during those difficult years. I watch my kids help their young adult kids and am grateful for the invisible and unacknowledged help I received. I thought I had done it by myself.
