Saturday morning, I pretend the sun is out, and water the dry front yard, and admire the new fence.  Back in the house I am wet and cold.

I watch the fence worker methodically and carefully organize his work, laying out the tools and wood before he stars building the fence. Now he is dismantling parts of my damaged deck with the same attention. Reminds me of the methodical way the nurses prepare for my immunotherapy treatments.

A friend brings me the book, FOSTER by Claire Keegan, a short book about a young girl in Ireland. Yes, it is as wonderful as my friend reported.

I no longer understand what things cost. Today I measure the construction costs by comparing them to the costs of dental implants, $3,000 an implant.  My new fence cost one half of an implant.  I think the deck will cost two or three implants. My sense of money is warped by inflation over the last 80 years. The construction work reminds me of dental work sounds.
