The fence worker spends the day in my front yard repairing the blown down fence. Finally, I am competing with neighbors with home repair noise. Our street is filled with noisy trucks, used cars, and strong looking workers.
I mope around the house unsettled with what to do with my one perfect life. Nothing is good enough. Late in the day I have a ocular migraine, no pain, just visual fireworks. It has been years since the last one. A wake up call to, well, wake up.
In the evening I start reading Tracy Kidder’s new book ROUGH SLEEPERS, Dr. Jim O’Connell’s urgent mission to bring healing to homeless people. He is one of my favorite writers. He writes about a community and work that is close to my heart.
Today is a new foggy day and I have plans.
