Sitting in my car at lake El Estero Tuesday morning I watch a floating Canadian goose family and listen to Ezra Klein podcast.  It is an hour before I notice the field of mustard flowers near the shore.

I return five books to the library.  The new scanning machine refuses my ancient card. I get to talk to a human librarian to check out my three new books. I do prefer humans to machines.

A strange huge machine is chugging away at my neighbor’s house. Most of the trucks and machines are familiar but this one is a mystery to me.

I am loving ALMOST FRENCH, love and a new life in Paris, a memoir by Sarah Turnbull. It is 18 years old and still relevant.
