In the morning outside the living room window a woodpecker pounds away at a thick branch of the pepper tree in the front yard.  This tree is entwined with the dead looking oak tree.  In the late afternoon the sky is filled crows leaving their work and heading for their resting trees. The apricot and quince trees are blooming in the back yard.

No one in my family died of COVID. Many got sick and then were well again.  And still when I think of the epidemic, I am grief stricken.  Watched a third season episode of NEW AMSTERDAM situated in the times of the epidemic. I still wear a mask and stay home. My life has been drastically affected by the epidemic.

I am reading a second book by Henry Marsh, ADMISSIONS, life as a brain surgeon.  He is such a good writer and now I think I understand how surgery actually works.

I am walking more, up and down the neighborhood street.  Soon I will walk at the beach.
