The teenager and I watch MSNBC in the evening.  We watch the gathering restless crowds in various cities as the night begins.  We watch fires and fear and restlessness. She reminds me that to be a good citizen we must be informed as to what is happening in our world.

We both agree that the large geranium with huge pink blossoms is the most beautiful bush we have on the deck.  Today I am going to take some clippings and plant them in fresh soil.

Eula Biss’s book NOTES FROM NO MAN’S LAND, is the perfect book for me to read during this long angry weekend.

This morning the house is quiet.  More fog, more morning doves calling out.  I am a morning person and ready to face the day.
