I pick up cash at the bank in the morning. Few customers, employees focused on screens.
Bags of hot buttered popcorn at the door. The security guard is friendly and
sees me. The fruit trees are blooming with while flowers.
I join the other old people to do my errands. We own the streets and the sidewalks in the
early morning. People with white hair, canes and awareness. I have lived longer
than expected.
This morning running around to bank, post office, library,
and stores I live in a Richard Scarry’s book, BUSY BUSY WORLD, my favorite
children’s book.
A friend and I were talking about books we read when we were
young. She read Nancy Drew books and I
loved Zane Grey westerns. 90 books published. I took them out of the library
one at a time. I got my fill of cowboys
and haven’t read a Zane Grey book since.
