I am overwhelmed by the many lists of best books this year.  My hunger for books is inflamed. I don’t want to miss any of them.  I am looking for the less known book, the hidden gem, by a woman.  I know the best sellers, those books that are well reviewed and publicized. 

I found listed in the NYT a book published in 2017 that I absolutely loved and have shared with others and now no longer have. GO, WENT, GONE, by Jenny Erpenbeck.  She is a German author writing about the refugee problems in Europe. Translated by Susan Bernofsky. I will reorder it from Amazon to put back on my overloaded shelves.  The characters in this book haunt me.
