     We decide to watch THE BRUTALIST on Sunday. A cloudy autumn day becomes a movie day. We watch the first half at noon and the second half in the late afternoon. A four hour movie. Did I like it, wrong question.  We stay with the intense story. Visually compelling, so sad. In the end we couldn’t talk about what we had seen.

     I take a shower and do a load of laundry during movie breaks. I start reading EAST OF EDEN by John Steinbeck, a fabulous book.

     I am giving up on the pain book, IT DOESN’T HAVE TO HURT.  The first half is based on the science of how pain works in the body.  The second half feels like lectures about our life styles.

     The government may close down this week. I watch the news for updates. I am glad the democrats are standing up to the president.
