I am slowly reading Polly Atkin’s non fiction book, SOME OF US JUST FALL, a study of living with chronic illness. I am living with old age and chronic illness. And yet I aspire to be young and healthy again even knowing that is not how life goes. The task is to live with today’s body in today’s time. Yep, I know and it is hard to do.
The huge oak tree in the backyard is filled with ripening acorns again this year. Another bumper crop. In the late afternoon, I watch a squirrel race across the deck, drink from a potted plant’s saucer, and then jump up into the oak tree and run over the fence to the neighbor’s yard.
The pyracantha tree is filling with ripening red berries. Each day I check for birds eating the fruit. Nope, the birds still cluster in the adjacent Bottle Bush trees.
Last night we watch Thursday’s Stephen Colbert ‘s Late Show. We both laugh and are encouraged with his sharp humor. I also watch another interesting episode of LYNLEY on Britbox.
