More rain and cold. The historian is visiting. She knows to bring warm clothes for the cold house. I have the heater on, but still there is a chill in the air.
In the morning while I am walking on the deck, I hear sirens coming closer. Finally, an ambulance and a huge firetruck are here in the alley. I watch the first responders rush into my neighbor’s house with heavy equipment and a gurney. It could be me but not yet. Most of my neighbors are old. They bring out my neighbor and the sirens resume as they leave. The firetruck has a difficult time turning around in our street and finally, slowly backs out.
The tall man, the puppy lover and the puppy, come to recharge the cell phone and support battery. We still have power and heat, they do not. Emergencies bring out the best in me.
We watch GENTLEMAN FROM MOSCOW, on paramount plus, in the evening. I love watch TV with the historian.
