I talk about life events and realize later that these stories are funny. They weren’t meant to be funny. And yet, it is in humor that life becomes livable. I tend to turn somber matters into funny stories, to escape from the heaviness of old age, illness and death. Always the dilemma of being present in my actual life.
A flock of tiny birds dart through the thick bottle bush trees. Higher up the seagulls and the crows are calling and flying. No dogs barking this Sunday morning. No construction trucks arriving.
Watched on netflix, ALMOST AUSTRALIAN, a four episode travelogue. The scenery is fabulous and the show is good enough.
I am reading four books now, switching back and forth, all about our medical system. INNER PRACTICE OF MEDICINE by Wendy Lau, MD is the latest. This book focuses on helping Physicians navigate the often fraught environment of Western medicine. I wish there were a similar book to help patients participate and work with Western medicine.
