         My body just does not want to read or hear news about climate change. Stories of uncontrolled fires, heat, floods, wind appear frequently. My eyes just slide over the articles.  And yet someone needs to be paying attention. I am busy with my local community.

         Two friends from the north arrive bringing cookies and news. We talk, we listen and life becomes warm and interesting again.

         I am now in the middle of several books and the stories are merging.  Murder mysteries and detectives mingle with operating rooms and doctors behind locked doors.

         The former teenager is gone for the weekend.  I am putting together a grocery order for Instacart. Piles of cardboard boxes wait by the front door. Thick fog cools the morning. The neighborhood dogs have started barking again.
