In my closet I find a shoe box with an unworn pair of new Balance walking shoes. I can’t even remember when I bought them. Sunday, I start wearing them. They are heavier them my usual the old beaten shoes. And they are comfortable enough.
Hidden in the back yard is a wild rose bush now sporting red flowers. So beautiful. Five feet tall grasses, easter lilies, spikey red plants and many unnamed plants grow here. I should cut them back for fire safety but I just don’t want to.
A friend calls this morning to cancel meeting with us to write at our Monday morning group. She just tested positive for COVID, after a family visit trip. COVID? Is COVID still around? I have forgotten about COVID as I focus on with cancer treatments. I love seeing the human faces without masks.
Ricardo Nuila’s book THE PEOPLE’S HOSPITAL reminds me of the thirty years I worked as a county social worker. His chapters on the history of medicine, illness and poverty have given me a new perspective on my work experiences. I didn’t understand so much. Fabulous book.
