I am excited to find 80 year old characters in books I read. Mostly men, seldom women. Today’s book is EVERY CLOAK ROLLED IN BLOOD by James Lee Burke. A vivid intense mystery story by a master writer. I like books that reflect my age cohort.
I slept so well last night. Only got up once to use the bathroom. Now I am looking at the activities that triggered such a good rest. I may never know. Maybe this is the new norm.
I receive the New Yorker each Thursday. I smile at the cartoons. I read some of the back pages. The main articles are not so interesting. They need more people in their 80’s. There is a relentlessness with the weekly arrival of another issue.
My neighbor rings my door bell in the late afternoon. Kathy, your car’s head lights are on. He is cheerful with a glass of wine in his hand. No, I don’t think so. I haven’t driven the car for a week. Yes, he insists and goes across the street to check my lights again. Nope, just the sun glare on the car.
