I did it. A Sunday morning drive in the Skyline disaster forest. Dozens of pine trees broken and cut and scattered. More pine trees leaning over the road. Then down highway 68, more trees broken. Stopped at the produce market across from Trader Joes. Parking lot is in the back, not visible from the road. Perfect for me who lives alone. No more prepackaged expensive produce. The car is happy and the battery is recharged.
Long afternoon visit with my charming daughter and her college friend. Once again, I get to tell my sickness stories. I am beginning to be tired of these stories and need something new to talk about. What is interesting in my life now.?
When I was in my twenties as an exhausted single mom with three young children and a full time job to support them I used to dream of a time when I could spend all day reading. I imagined having TB and quiet years to recover. Now in my 80 I am being treated with TB immunotherapy and I can read as much as I want. Little did I know the future.
What is it I want to do with this wonderful life.
