I look out the window of the former teenager’s room to check for frost.  None, just rain. Her room is filled with limp clothes. When she is in residence, she wears these clothes with great attention and charm and the clothes come alive.

I can feel the tension in my body grow as I get ready for immunotherapy treatment number 10, Wednesday morning. The preparations are familiar but not easier.

Monday late afternoon, the Highlands baker brings me a fresh baked loaf of squaw bread. Bi weekly, she arrives with a creative bread as she experiments and expands her baking skills.  I am expanding my appreciation of bread possibilities. I am grateful.

A new book, no really an old 1970’s book that I am rereading.  DESPERATE CHARACTERS, a novel by Paula Fox. I read slowly, the prose is rich and compelling. Now I want to read her memoirs again.
