The truth is that I do not have control of keeping my house orderly and functioning. I accept TV football, stacks of trash, cardboard boxes, empty take out boxes and the dreaded smoked turkey in the refrigerator. I find an emergency plumber in the afternoon to unplug the toilets and sewer line. I love my family.
This morning I look for Sunday’s New York Times to read. I make up false stories of who took it and threw it away. I become agitated. I read the physical paper every morning with my breakfast. My daughter finds it easily, unmolested in its plastic sleeve.
A neighbor without electricity comes to charge his devices in my electrified home. I live on the edge of the massive PG&E black out. A new storm is brewing today.
I have started reading HORSE by Geraldine Brooks. No, I haven’t finished the other books I have started.
