I don’t want to catch COVID. I carefully wear a mask with strangers but with my family I don’t. I want to be with my family. I have different standards of caution with my family and with the public. I am willing to be exposed to COVID with family members. I am fully vaccinated.
The cold damp air keeps me uncomfortable this morning. After the last unexpected high PG&E bill, I am cautious. But I don’t want to be cold. Finally, I push up the heat. I need another strategy to deal with the rising costs of energy.
Started to read a challenging book, WE DON’T KNOW OURSELVES, a personal history of modern Ireland, by Fintan O’Toole. My father’s family is Irish and I struggle with understanding the myths and the reality of Ireland.
Wherever we sit in the house there is a blanket. This is a house with a multitude of blankets. I spend time each day folding and putting the blankets away. My middle aged kids tell their teenagers about living and surviving in a cold house.
